Last Updated: 2007-09-04

Category: Domain: Storage, Hardware and Environment, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages disk storage devices on H3C platforms, providing capacity, health status, and I/O performance objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-DISK-MIB?

HH3C-DISK-MIB manages physical disk storage devices installed in H3C storage/server platforms, exposing per-disk hardware inventory and health objects. It covers the general information category of hardware data: port type and speed, total size and free space, and physical indicator states like run and fault LEDs. This module is squarely about hardware status monitoring, letting an administrator check whether a disk is present and healthy, whether its fault LED is lit, and how much capacity remains, which are exactly the signals needed to catch a failing or nearly-full drive before it causes an outage. It is an H3C-proprietary hardware MIB and does not depend on an external disk/storage standard, being tailored to the vendor's disk-management backplane. It is typically deployed on H3C servers, storage arrays, or disk-enabled network appliances where administrators need SNMP-based disk health visibility alongside their existing monitoring tools. Engineers can download the HH3C-DISK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DISK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C servers with disk bays
  • H3C storage arrays/appliances

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk hh3cDiskTable, keyed by hh3cDiskIndex, checking hh3cDiskFaultLedState and hh3cDiskRunLedState to see whether a given disk is operating normally or signaling a fault, and hh3cDiskFreeSpace against hh3cDiskSize to compute remaining capacity. A disk reporting hh3cDiskFaultLedState as lit while hh3cDiskLocationState shows it as present would indicate a failing drive that needs replacement. Falling hh3cDiskFreeSpace trending toward zero across the array would warn of an impending capacity exhaustion requiring additional storage or cleanup.

What Can Be Monitored

  • disk capacity and free space
  • disk fault LED status
  • disk run/activity LED status
  • disk presence/location state
  • disk interface port type and speed
  • global spare disk configuration
