Category: Network Monitoring (RMON), Technology: Traffic Monitoring, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: Manages H3C Multi-Port Mirror (MPM) sessions for aggregated traffic capture from multiple switch ports.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-MPM-MIB?
HH3C-MPM-MIB is a proprietary SNMP MIB module published by H3C Technologies for its enterprise switching product line, covering the Multi-Port Mirror (MPM) traffic-capture feature. It exposes configuration-oriented data describing mirror sessions, such as which source switch ports are aggregated and which destination port receives the mirrored traffic, rather than raw performance counters. As a feature-configuration MIB it is used mainly to verify the software status of the mirroring function itself -- whether a session is administratively enabled, correctly mapped, and operating as configured -- rather than hardware vitals like temperature or fan speed. It has an implicit dependency on the standard IF-MIB for referencing the physical interfaces that participate in a mirror session. It is typically deployed on H3C campus and data-center switches where engineers need to tap traffic from several ports simultaneously for an IDS/IPS, packet analyzer, or compliance-monitoring tool, downloading the HH3C-MPM-MIB file to reference the exact object names in their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C enterprise switches
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were supplied for this module in the source data, so specific object identifiers cannot be cited with confidence. Conceptually, an administrator would expect to poll session-status and port-mapping objects to confirm an MPM session is active and correctly bound to its intended source and destination ports before attaching a packet capture tool. Because the concrete schema wasn't available, this should be read as an inferred rather than a verified monitoring workflow.
What Can Be Monitored
- mirror session administrative status
- source port mapping
- destination monitor port assignment
