With fast leave enabled, the switch removes a port from a multicast group as soon as it receives an IGMP leave message rather than waiting for the standard query/timeout process, reducing unwanted multicast traffic when a subscriber quickly switches channels. An admin serving IPTV subscribers on a port where only one device is ever connected might enable fast leave to speed up channel-change responsiveness.
