Category: MPLS and Traffic Engineering, Protocol: BGP, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages MPLS BGP L3VPN instances, VRF tables, and labeled BGP routes on H3C provider-edge routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB?

HH3C-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB is an H3C MIB implementing management objects for MPLS/BGP Layer 3 VPNs, based on the RFC 2547-style architecture for MPLS/BGP VPNs referenced in its module description. It exposes VRF (Virtual Routing and Forwarding) instance configuration, per-VRF interface bindings, and counts of configured versus active VRFs on a provider-edge router. As a monitoring tool it is used to verify VPN service health at the configuration and routing level, confirming the right number of VRFs are active, that interfaces are correctly bound to their VRF with matching IP addressing, and that VRF row status reflects an operational state, rather than hardware sensor data. It explicitly builds on MPLS and BGP standards referenced in its own description, and typically works alongside standard BGP4-MIB and MPLS-related MIBs for full VPN visibility. It is typically deployed on H3C provider-edge (PE) routers delivering MPLS L3VPN services to multiple enterprise customers over a shared core. Engineers can download the HH3C-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C provider-edge router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would compare hh3cmplsVpnConfiguredVrfs against hh3cmplsVpnActiveVrfs to spot VRFs that are configured but not yet active, then drill into hh3cmplsVpnVrfConfTable for the specific VRF's status. The hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceConfTable, indexed by hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceConfIndex, exposes hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceIpAddress, hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceIpAddressMask, and hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceVpnClassification for each customer-facing VRF interface. A VRF interface stuck with a non-active hh3cmplsVpnInterfaceConfRowStatus would reveal a provisioning or PE-CE link problem preventing a customer VPN site from being reachable.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured vs active VRF counts
  • VRF interface IP address and mask
  • VRF interface row status
  • VPN classification per interface
