Category: Technology: Multicast, Technology: OAM, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages H3C Multicast IN Multicast (MINM) tunneling for delivering multicast over unicast network paths.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-MINM-MIB?

HH3C-MINM-MIB implements the 802.1ah MAC-in-MAC (Provider Backbone Bridge) tunneling model on H3C carrier-class Ethernet switches, letting customer traffic be encapsulated in a backbone MAC header for transport across a service-provider network. It exposes Virtual Switch Instance (VSI) configuration, backbone MAC (B-MAC) and backbone VLAN (B-VLAN) settings, uplink port associations, and per-connection tunnel mappings. Its monitoring value is largely configuration- and connectivity-oriented: verifying VSI, uplink, and connection table entries are correctly provisioned and active, which surfaces tunnel setup failures or link-ID exhaustion that would otherwise silently drop encapsulated customer traffic. It is a vendor implementation of the IEEE 802.1ah standard and depends on the underlying bridging/VLAN MIB framework (dot1dBridge/Q-BRIDGE) for its base Ethernet switching model. It is deployed on H3C metro/carrier Ethernet switches used by service providers to aggregate and transport multiple customers' traffic over a shared backbone, and operators commonly open an HH3C-MINM-MIB MIB Browser session to review the tunneling object tree during initial provisioning.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MINM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C carrier/metro Ethernet switch
  • H3C PBB (MAC-in-MAC) capable switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll hh3cMinmVsiTable entries such as hh3cMinmVsiBvlan and hh3cMinmVsiReEncapsulation to confirm a customer's VSI is correctly bound to its backbone VLAN, and check hh3cMinmUplinkTable/hh3cMinmUplinkRowStatus to verify uplink ports are active. Watching hh3cMinmVsiNextAvailableLinkId trend toward zero across hh3cMinmConnectionTable entries would warn of link-ID exhaustion before new customer tunnels can no longer be provisioned.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VSI-to-backbone-VLAN binding
  • uplink port row status
  • connection table entries
  • available link-ID count
