An administrator uses it to distinguish auto-learned BMAC associations from ones they configured manually, or sets it to configStatic(3) when adding a permanent entry, while blackhole(4) marks traffic toward that BMAC to be dropped. For example, a connection entry showing blackhole(4) tells the administrator frames destined for that BMAC/BVLAN pair are being discarded rather than forwarded.
