Category: Routing Protocols, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages IS-IS routing protocol configuration, adjacencies, and LSP database on H3C routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-ISIS-MIB?

HH3C-ISIS-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com/New H3C) covering the IS-IS interior gateway routing protocol on H3C routers and Layer 3 switches. It exposes configuration and operational data about IS-IS system instances, circuits (interfaces running IS-IS), and adjacency/protocol state, organized under system, circuit, and notification object groups. In monitoring terms it is used mainly for protocol/software status rather than hardware health: it lets an operator confirm whether IS-IS adjacencies are up, which protocol type (Level 1/Level 2, IPv4/IPv6) is active on a circuit, and whether the link-state database and neighbor relationships are healthy, with adjacency state-change traps flagging faults. It builds on the IETF IS-IS MIB model and standard SMIv2 conventions, adapting the well-known circuit/adjacency structure to H3C's private enterprise tree. It is deployed in service-provider and enterprise core/backbone networks where H3C routers run IS-IS for intra-domain routing and network management systems poll or trap on adjacency changes to detect routing instability, with an HH3C-ISIS-MIB download from H3C typically required to load the module into monitoring tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-ISIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C routers
  • H3C Layer 3 switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll hh3cIsisSysTable/hh3cIsisSysEntry to see each configured IS-IS instance (hh3cIsisSysInstance) and hh3cIsisCircTable/hh3cIsisCircEntry (indexed by hh3cIsisCircIndex and mapped to hh3cIsisCircIfIndex) to check which interfaces are running IS-IS. Reading hh3cIsisAdjProtoType and hh3cIsisAdjProtoState reveals whether a neighbor adjacency is Up, Initializing, or Down for a given protocol family. A monitoring system subscribing to hh3cIsisNotifications/hh3cIsisNotificationObjects would be alerted the moment an adjacency drops, indicating a link failure or protocol misconfiguration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IS-IS instance configuration
  • IS-IS circuit/interface mapping
  • adjacency protocol type
  • adjacency state (up/down)
  • IS-IS adjacency change traps
