Description: Manages Layer 4 Redirect (L4RDT) policies for traffic steering to service appliances on H3C devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-L4RDT-MIB?

HH3C-L4RDT-MIB is an H3C (Hewlett-Packard/Huawei-3Com joint venture, now H3C Technologies) enterprise MIB for Layer 4 Redirect (L4RDT), a feature that transparently steers matching traffic flows to service appliances such as firewalls, load balancers, or WAN optimizers based on IP/port criteria. It exposes a redirect cache table tracking which flows are currently being redirected and an IP exclusion table listing addresses exempted from redirection. Its monitoring role centers on traffic-steering configuration and state: current cache entries showing live redirected sessions (by IP, MAC, VLAN, and TCP port), each entry's redirection status, and row-status-managed configuration for exclusions. It builds on H3C's standard interface/VLAN MIB framework for addressing context (ifIndex, VLAN IDs), though no external standard MIB dependency beyond that is evident. It is deployed on H3C switches/routers in networks using transparent service-chaining to redirect selected traffic to inline appliances without client reconfiguration. Engineers can download the HH3C-L4RDT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-L4RDT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches/routers (Layer 4 Redirect traffic-steering feature)

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll hh3cL4RedirectCacheTable/hh3cL4RedirectCacheEntry indexed by hh3cL4RedirectCacheIpAddress to see hh3cL4RedirectCacheRedirectionStatus, hh3cL4RedirectCacheVlan, and hh3cL4RedirectCacheTcpPort for each actively-redirected flow, confirming traffic is being steered to the intended service appliance. An unexpectedly empty cache table, or entries stuck in a non-active hh3cL4RedirectCacheRowStatus, would indicate the redirect policy has stopped matching traffic; the hh3cL4RedirectIpExclusionTable can be checked to confirm a given source hh3cL4RedirectIpExclusionIpAddress is properly excluded from redirection.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active redirected flow entries
  • redirection status per flow
  • VLAN/TCP port of redirected sessions
  • IP exclusion list entries
  • redirect cache row status

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cL4RedirectFreeCacheEntries OID:

Select an H3C switches/router as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cL4RedirectFreeCacheEntries into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. This object indicates the number of entries that may still be added to the hh3cL4RedirectCacheTable. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the count changes from its expected baseline, since that would indicate the underlying set of items changed unexpectedly. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
