Category: Technology: Link Aggregation, Technology: Switching/L2, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages Link Aggregation Group (LAG/LACP) configuration and member port statistics on H3C switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-LAG-MIB?

HH3C-LAG-MIB is an H3C-proprietary MIB extending standard Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) management, used to configure and monitor Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs, or Eth-Trunks) on H3C switches and routers. It exposes configuration data for aggregation group membership and per-member-port statistics, letting administrators see which physical ports are bundled into a logical LAG and how each member port is performing. Its monitoring value lies in verifying the operational health of link aggregation: confirming that all expected member ports are active and passing traffic, and that none have dropped out of the aggregate due to a link failure or LACP negotiation problem, directly affecting available bandwidth and redundancy. It complements the standard IEEE 802.1AX (formerly 802.3ad) LACP framework and related standard LAG MIBs by adding H3C-specific extensions. It is deployed on H3C switches and routers wherever multiple physical links are bonded into a single logical trunk for bandwidth aggregation and link redundancy. Engineers can download the HH3C-LAG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-LAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches
  • H3C routers

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were available for this module in the source, but based on the module description an administrator would typically poll a LAG/aggregation table to confirm the operational status of each member port within an Eth-Trunk and per-port traffic statistics. A member port unexpectedly showing as down or excluded from the aggregate, while its peers remain active, would indicate either a physical link fault or an LACP negotiation mismatch causing reduced aggregate bandwidth.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LAG/Eth-Trunk membership
  • member port operational status
  • per-member-port traffic statistics
