Description: Handles QoS policy on HP/Comware Layer 2 switches, covering classification, marking, queuing, and rate limiting.

What Is HPN-ICF-LswQos-MIB?

HPN-ICF-LswQos-MIB is an HP/H3C Comware private MIB acting as a module node that groups Quality-of-Service (QoS) and ACL-related managed objects for Layer 2 switches. Based on its description, it primarily organizes traffic classification, marking, queuing, and rate-limiting configuration rather than exposing raw hardware sensors. It would typically be used to monitor and configure how the switch prioritizes, polices, or reshapes traffic classes, letting an operator confirm that QoS policies (e.g., queue assignment or rate limits) are correctly applied and active on switch ports. Because QoS and ACL functionality builds on interface and traffic-class concepts, this module likely depends on other HPN-ICF QoS/ACL sub-MIBs and standard interface MIBs for actual per-port statistics. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware Layer 2 switches where differentiated traffic handling (voice, video, best-effort data) needs to be configured and verified, and administrators often inspect its object groups in an HPN-ICF-LswQos-MIB MIB Browser view to understand how the QoS hierarchy is organized.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-LswQos-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware Layer 2 switches

Monitoring Examples

Because no concrete objects were captured for this module, a typical HPN-ICF QoS deployment would involve polling per-port queue and rate-limit configuration tables (analogous to other HPN-ICF QoS sub-MIBs) to confirm that a voice VLAN's traffic is mapped to a priority queue and that rate-limiting thresholds match policy. An administrator would watch for queue-drop counters or misclassified traffic to detect QoS policy misconfiguration. This module node itself mainly serves as an organizational placeholder tying together the switch's QoS and ACL object groups.

What Can Be Monitored

  • QoS traffic classification policy
  • queue/priority mapping
  • rate-limiting configuration
  • ACL-based QoS policy state

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hpnicfRateLimitMeterStatByteCount OID:

Select an HP/H3C Comware switch as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hpnicfRateLimitMeterStatByteCount into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The counter of conform byte. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
