Category: Protocol: DHCP, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages DHCPv4 client and relay agent configuration and statistics on H3C network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-DHCP4-MIB?

HH3C-DHCP4-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB covering IPv4 DHCP server and relay agent functionality on H3C network devices, exposing configuration scalars (broadcast behavior, BOOTP compatibility, Option 82 handling, ping-based address conflict detection) alongside statistics on protocol message types processed. It reports counts of bad/malformed requests, BOOTP requests, DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPREQUEST, and DHCPDECLINE messages, giving visibility into DHCP service software health and client behavior patterns. This is a software-service-status MIB: elevated bad-packet or decline counts can reveal address pool exhaustion, misconfigured clients, or a malfunctioning relay path, while ping-check settings (hh3cDhcpServer2PingNumber/PingTimeout) affect how aggressively the server verifies address availability before leasing. It is a proprietary complement to (and does not replace) the standard IETF DHCP-related MIBs, extending them with H3C-specific relay and Option 82 controls. It is deployed on H3C routers/switches acting as DHCP servers or relay agents in enterprise and campus IP address management infrastructure. Engineers can download the HH3C-DHCP4-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DHCP4-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C routers and switches acting as DHCPv4 server/relay

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hh3cDhcpServer2DiscoverNum, hh3cDhcpServer2RequestNum, and hh3cDhcpServer2DeclineNum to gauge DHCP transaction volume and detect anomalies such as a spike in DHCPDECLINE messages suggesting IP address conflicts. Checking hh3cDhcpServer2BadNum alongside hh3cDhcpServer2BootpRequestNum helps identify malformed or legacy BOOTP traffic straining the server. Reviewing hh3cDhcpServer2Opt82Enabled and hh3cDhcpServer2PingNumber/PingTimeout confirms whether Option 82 relay insertion and address-conflict ping checks are configured as expected on a given relay/server instance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP discover/request/decline message counts
  • bad/malformed request count
  • BOOTP request count
  • Option 82 enable status
  • ping-check configuration for address conflict detection
