Description: Manages DHCPv6 client, relay, and prefix delegation functions on H3C IPv6-capable network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-DHCP6-MIB?

HH3C-DHCP6-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com / New H3C) MIB module for managing DHCPv6 client, relay, and server/prefix-delegation functionality on H3C's IPv6-capable network devices. It exposes DHCPv6 server address-pool configuration, including pool naming, VPN association, network/mask, and prefix-delegation parameters used to hand out IPv6 prefixes to downstream customer routers. Its monitoring relevance is largely configuration/software-state oriented: confirming pool row status (active/inactive), verifying prefix-delegation ranges and lengths are correctly provisioned, and monitoring DHCPv6 trap notifications for events like pool exhaustion or allocation failures, which are important for service-affecting IPv6 address assignment issues. It builds on the IETF DHCPv6 protocol standard (RFC 3315/3633) as its functional basis while adding H3C-specific management objects. It is deployed on H3C switches/routers acting as DHCPv6 servers or relays in IPv6 access and prefix-delegation deployments, such as ISP or enterprise IPv6 rollouts. Engineers can download the HH3C-DHCP6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DHCP6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C IPv6-capable router/switch (DHCPv6 server/relay)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolTable/hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolEntry, checking hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolRowStatus and hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolName to confirm which address pools are active, and hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolNetwork/hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolNetworkMask alongside hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolNetworkPdNum to verify prefix-delegation capacity. Objects like hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolSubPdAddr and hh3cDhcp6Server2PoolSubPdLength show the sub-prefix delegation details being handed to downstream routers. Enabling hh3cDhcp6Server2TrapNotify lets the administrator receive hh3cDhcp6Server2Traps when pool-related events occur, such as a pool nearing exhaustion, which would reveal an impending IPv6 address-assignment failure for new subscribers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCPv6 address pool status
  • DHCPv6 pool row status (active/inactive)
  • prefix delegation network/mask configuration
  • sub-prefix delegation address and length
  • DHCPv6 trap notifications
