Last Updated: 2009-04-30

Category: Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages 3G modem interfaces on H3C devices, providing cellular link status, signal strength, and data usage objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-3GMODEM-MIB?

HH3C-3GMODEM-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for managing 3G wireless WAN modem cards installed in H3C routers/gateways, along with the associated UIM (User Identification Module, a SIM-like card). It exposes inventory and identification data for wireless cards (model, manufacturer, description, serial number, hardware/firmware version) and UIM information, primarily configuration/inventory rather than live traffic counters. Its main monitoring value is tracking hardware/software status: confirming which 3G card is installed, its firmware version, and whether the UIM/SIM is present and recognized, which helps detect failed or missing modem hardware or outdated firmware. It is a self-contained vendor MIB, not layered on a specific IETF cellular MIB. Typical deployment is on H3C branch routers or gateways using 3G modem cards as a WAN backup/failover link. Engineers can download the HH3C-3GMODEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-3GMODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C router/gateway with 3G WAN modem card

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hh3cWirelessCardTable entries (indexed by hh3cWirelessCardIndex) to check hh3cWirelessCardModelName, hh3cWirelessCardSerialNumber, and hh3cWirelessCardFirmwareVersion, confirming the correct modem card is installed and up to date. Querying hh3cUIMInfoTable reveals whether the UIM/SIM card is detected, and a missing or changed entry would indicate a hardware fault or card swap on the 3G WAN interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • wireless card model/manufacturer
  • wireless card serial number
  • wireless card hardware version
  • wireless card firmware version
  • PRL version
  • UIM/SIM card presence and info
