Organization: Hangzhou H3C Tech. Co., Ltd.

Last Updated: 2001-06-29

Category: Protocol: 802.1X, RADIUS and AAA, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages IEEE 802.1X Port Access Entity (PAE) on H3C switches, covering authenticator and supplicant port states.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-8021PAE-MIB?

HH3C-8021PAE-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com, now part of New H3C) enterprise extension to the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB, adding vendor-specific objects for IEEE 802.1X Port Access Entity functionality on H3C switches. Its purpose is to manage and monitor network access control at the port level, covering both authenticator (switch-side) and supplicant (client-side) port states used to permit or deny device access to the network. As an extension MIB it generally supplies enhanced or vendor-specific status and configuration data layered on top of the base 802.1X authentication state machine, complementing rather than replacing the standard fields (e.g., port authorization status, authentication method, and related counters). This MIB has an explicit and stated dependency on the standard IEEE8021-PAE-MIB, whose base objects it extends. It is deployed in enterprise or campus LAN environments running H3C switches where 802.1X network access control (NAC) is enforced on edge ports, making HH3C-8021PAE-MIB SNMP monitoring a standard part of diagnosing ports stuck in an unauthorized state.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-8021PAE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switch (802.1X-capable)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were available for this module, so no specific table names can be cited; however, given its role as an extension of IEEE8021-PAE-MIB, an administrator would typically combine base PAE authenticator port status objects with this MIB's H3C-specific enhancements to monitor per-port 802.1X authorization state and diagnose ports stuck in an unauthorized state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • 802.1X port authorization state (via extended objects, exact fields unconfirmed)
