Category: Protocol: LLDP, Vendor: H3C/HH3C
Description: H3C MIB extending LLDP with H3C vendor-specific TLVs for enhanced neighbor discovery and topology mapping.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-LLDP-EXT-MIB?
H3C-LLDP-EXT-MIB is an H3C vendor extension to the standard IEEE 802.1AB Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), adding H3C-specific objects for controlling LLDP admin status and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) compliance behavior on a per-port basis, to improve neighbor discovery and topology mapping in mixed-vendor networks. It exposes a global h3clldpAdminStatus switch alongside a per-port h3clldpPortConfigTable that records each port's CDP-compliance status, letting the device optionally interoperate with CDP-speaking neighbors. Its monitoring value is chiefly configuration/software-status oriented: administrators can confirm LLDP is enabled device-wide via h3clldpAdminStatus and check each port's h3clldpPortConfigCDPComplianceStatus to verify CDP-compatibility mode is correctly set on ports connecting to Cisco equipment, which affects whether accurate neighbor/topology information is exchanged on that link. As an LLDP extension it depends on the standard LLDP-MIB (IEEE 802.1AB) for the base neighbor-discovery tables and TLVs it augments. It is deployed on H3C enterprise switches and routers in mixed-vendor campus networks where accurate Layer-2 topology mapping is required. Engineers can download the H3C-LLDP-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-LLDP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C enterprise switch/router
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks h3clldpAdminStatus to confirm LLDP is globally enabled, then walks h3clldpPortConfigTable by h3clldpPortConfigPortNum to verify h3clldpPortConfigCDPComplianceStatus is enabled on ports facing Cisco switches. If a port's neighbor discovery is missing entries for an adjacent Cisco device, disabled CDP-compliance status on that port would explain the topology-mapping gap.
What Can Be Monitored
- LLDP admin status (global)
- per-port CDP compliance status
- LLDP port configuration
