What Is H3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB?

H3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com) enterprise MIB covering common objects shared between Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) deployments, spanning both EFM/PON-based access (per IEEE 802.3ah clauses 60/64/65) and HomePlug AV-based Ethernet-over-Cable systems used in coax-based broadband access networks. It exposes system identification (software version, uplink MAC address), client authorization/management settings, and bandwidth-provisioning parameters (min/max upstream and downstream bandwidth, high-priority SLA bandwidth) for coax network units (CNUs). It supports monitoring of software version status via h3cEOCCommonSysVersion and operational/administrative state of client devices through the client management table, helping an operator confirm CNUs are authorized and correctly provisioned rather than exposing classic hardware sensors like temperature or fans. Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cEOCCommonCltManTable entries to see which coax network units (CNUs) are registered and whether h3cEOCCommonCltAutoAuthorize is permitting new clients to join automatically. Bandwidth fields such as h3cEOCComCnuMaxDownBWMinVal/MaxVal and h3cEOCComCnuMaxUpBWMinVal/MaxVal reveal whether a CNU's provisioned bandwidth range matches the service tier it was assigned. A CNU count exceeding h3cEOCCommonCltMaxAllowToAccess would indicate the access port is oversubscribed.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cEOCComUniCurrentSpeed OID:

Select an H3C broadband access/aggregation device (Ethernet-over-Coax) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cEOCComUniCurrentSpeed into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports an estimate of the interface's current bandwidth in bits per second. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Gauge32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the rate climbs well above its normal baseline, since a sustained spike often reflects real load growth or a runaway process. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
