Category: Frame Relay

Description: Supplies network-side managed objects for Frame Relay data circuit-terminating equipment interfaces, as an optional extension to Frame Relay DCE management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FRDCE-OPT-MIB?

FRDCE-OPT-MIB is a Codex/Motorola-lineage vendor MIB providing network-side (DCE) optional management extensions for Frame Relay interfaces on CDX-6500-series equipment. It exposes port- and station-level protocol group configuration objects for the Frame Relay DCE side of a WAN link, covering how the device's frame relay ports and stations are configured to communicate. Its monitoring value centers on interface/software configuration status, letting an administrator confirm the correct protocol group is applied to a given port or station, which affects whether the link negotiates correctly with attached DTE equipment. It builds on the base Frame Relay interface conventions shared with the companion FRDTE-OPT-MIB and FRI-OPT-MIB modules for the same CDX-6500 hardware family. It is deployed in legacy Frame Relay WAN environments using Codex CDX-6500 access devices on the network (DCE) side of the link. Engineers can download the FRDCE-OPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FRDCE-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codex CDX-6500 Frame Relay access device (DCE side)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator could poll cdx6500PCTPortProtocolGroup and cdx6500PSTPortProtocolGroup to confirm which protocol group is assigned to a given Frame Relay port, and cdx6500PCTStationProtocolGroup/cdx6500PSTStationProtocolGroup to check station-level settings, catching a misconfigured protocol group that would prevent a PVC from establishing correctly with the far-end DTE device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Frame Relay port protocol group configuration
  • Frame Relay station protocol group configuration
