Category: Frame Relay

Description: FrameVision network management MIB providing ping-based connectivity test management and round-trip time statistics for network performance monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FRAMEVISIONFPING-MIB?

FRAMEVISIONFPING-MIB is a third-party network management MIB implementing ping-based (fping) connectivity testing and round-trip time statistics. It exposes an auto-configuration table for scheduling per-interface ping tests with configurable thresholds, alongside result objects tracking test duration and generation counters. Its monitoring focus is synthetic network health rather than device hardware: it reveals round-trip time, packet-loss threshold breaches, and how long a monitored target has been unreachable. It is a standalone MIB with no significant dependency on other standard MIBs beyond referencing interface indexes similarly to IF-MIB. It is deployed on network monitoring appliances or software agents performing scheduled reachability tests to remote hosts. Engineers can download the FRAMEVISIONFPING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FRAMEVISIONFPING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • network monitoring appliance/agent running FrameVision fping

Monitoring Examples

fpingAutoCfgTable (fpingAutoCfgIfIndex, fpingAutoCfgThresh, fpingAutoCfgGen) configures automatic ping tests per interface with a loss/latency threshold, while fpingAutoDuration and fpingAutoClearData in the results table let an admin see how long a target has been unreachable, revealing an intermittent WAN path outage that ordinary interface counters would miss.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured ping test thresholds per interface
  • round-trip time / auto test duration
  • test generation/reset counters
  • unreachable/failure duration
