What Is FRAMEVISIONSTD-MIB?

FRAMEVISIONSTD-MIB is a vendor-neutral-styled Frame Relay management MIB (the 'FrameVision' branding suggests a WAN monitoring tool/product) providing baseline configuration and virtual-circuit inventory data for Frame Relay network health monitoring. It exposes a per-interface configuration table capturing frame type, address octet length, FCS (frame check sequence) bit length, polling time interval, and both the maximum and currently active number of virtual circuits on an interface. Its monitoring value is centered on WAN circuit inventory and software/configuration status: an operator can compare fribCfgNumberVCs against fribCfgMaxVCs to see how close a Frame Relay interface is to its provisioned VC capacity, and track fribCfgLastChange/fribMibLastChange to detect recent configuration changes. It builds conceptually on the same Frame Relay concepts standardized in the IETF's Frame Relay DTE/DCE MIBs (DLCI, FCS) even though it is not a direct RFC-based module. It is deployed on Frame Relay WAN access equipment or associated monitoring probes in legacy carrier/enterprise WAN environments. Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk fribCfgTable/fribCfgEntry per fribCfgIfIndex to read fribCfgNumberVCs versus fribCfgMaxVCs, flagging an interface that has reached or exceeded its provisioned virtual-circuit capacity. fribCfgFrameType and fribCfgFcsBitLength would be checked to confirm the frame format matches what the carrier expects, and fribCfgTimeInterval shows the polling interval used for the interface's own statistics collection. fribMibLastChange/fribCfgLastChange let a management station detect that the Frame Relay configuration changed since the last poll, prompting a re-sync of expected topology.
