Category: Protocol: BGP, Technology: Routing, Vendor: Foundry/Brocade

Description: Brocade Foundry BGP4 group MIB providing BGP routing policy, neighbor configuration, and route advertisement management for FastIron routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FOUNDRY-SN-BGP4-GROUP-MIB?

FOUNDRY-SN-BGP4-GROUP-MIB is a Brocade/Foundry proprietary MIB extending BGP4 management on FastIron routers with address filtering and route aggregation policy objects. It exposes an address filter table controlling which prefixes are permitted or denied, and an aggregate address table defining summarized routes advertised by the router. Its monitoring value is in routing-policy/software-configuration state: confirming filter rules and aggregates are correctly applied, rather than hardware condition. It complements the standard BGP4-MIB (RFC 4273) rather than replacing it, adding Foundry-specific policy controls. It is used on FastIron-based routers running BGP4 at ISP or enterprise WAN edges. Engineers can download the FOUNDRY-SN-BGP4-GROUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FOUNDRY-SN-BGP4-GROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Brocade/Foundry FastIron router

Monitoring Examples

The snBgp4AddrFilterTable (snBgp4AddrFilterIndex, snBgp4AddrFilterSourceIp/DestIp, snBgp4AddrFilterAction) lets an admin audit exactly which prefixes are permitted or denied on a BGP peering, while snBgp4AggregateAddrTable confirms configured route aggregates are active; an unexpected filter action or a missing aggregate entry would reveal a route leak or an incomplete summarization policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • BGP address filter rules and actions
  • BGP aggregate address entries
  • source/destination IP filter criteria
  • BGP general configuration state
