Category: Protocol: BGP, Routing Protocols, VPN and Security, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages BGP EVPN (Ethernet VPN) routes, MAC/IP advertisements, and VTEP associations on H3C devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-BGP-EVPN-MIB?

HH3C-BGP-EVPN-MIB provides H3C's management objects for BGP EVPN (Ethernet VPN), the BGP-based control plane used to distribute MAC and IP reachability information and build VXLAN/MPLS overlay networks on H3C data-center and WAN switches/routers. It exposes tables of EVPN neighbor addresses and AS numbers, advertised prefixes and their route-distinguisher/route-type attributes, and per-neighbor prefix data, covering the routing/control-plane configuration and state category rather than physical hardware. Its main monitoring value is protocol-level status, confirming EVPN BGP neighbor relationships are established and that expected MAC/IP prefixes are being advertised and received, which indirectly reflects the software/control-plane health of the routing engine on the device. It explicitly depends on the standard BGP protocol framework referenced in the module description and on H3C's own BGP4v2/VPN MIB extensions for underlying session and address-family context. It is deployed in data center fabrics and service-provider networks running EVPN-VXLAN or EVPN-MPLS overlays on H3C switches and routers. Engineers can download the HH3C-BGP-EVPN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-BGP-EVPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C data center switches
  • H3C routers running BGP EVPN

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hh3cBgpEvpnNbrAddrTable (keyed by hh3cBgpEvpnNbrAddr and hh3cBgpEvpnNbrAsNumber) to confirm an EVPN BGP neighbor is configured with the expected remote AS, and then check hh3cBgpEvpnNbrPrefixTable for received prefixes described by hh3cBgpEvpnPAtrRD, hh3cBgpEvpnPAtrRouteType, and hh3cBgpEvpnPAtrOrigin. A neighbor entry present in hh3cBgpEvpnNbrAddrTable but absent from the prefix table would indicate the EVPN session is up but not exchanging routes, pointing to a route-policy or address-family negotiation problem. Missing or stale hh3cBgpEvpnPAtrAddrPrefix entries for a known host would reveal a MAC/IP mobility or reachability issue in the overlay.

What Can Be Monitored

  • EVPN BGP neighbor address and AS number
  • advertised route distinguisher and route type
  • advertised prefix and prefix length
  • peer origin of advertised routes
