Description: Brocade Foundry BGP4v2 textual conventions MIB defining data types for BGP address families and peer state used in the BGP4V2 MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-TC-MIB?
FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-TC-MIB is a Foundry Networks (later Brocade) textual-conventions module that defines shared data types - such as BGP address-family identifiers and peer-state enumerations - used by the companion BGP4V2 MIB that actually exposes BGP peering and routing data. As a pure textual-conventions module, it contains no runtime tables or counters itself; instead it standardizes the types that the operational BGP4V2 objects (peer tables, prefix counts, session state) are built from. Because it defines no data-bearing objects, it is not directly used to monitor hardware or software status - its role is purely to make the real monitoring objects in the BGP4V2 MIB interpretable and consistent across implementations. It exists specifically as a dependency of the vendor-neutral IETF BGP4V2-MIB lineage referenced in its own description, and mirrors that standard's textual conventions. It applies to any router or Layer 3 switch running BGP that implements the BGP4V2 MIB, whether from Foundry/Brocade or other vendors adopting the same conventions, and the FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-TC-MIB MIB remains the canonical reference for these shared type definitions.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FOUNDRY-BGP4V2-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB (originally Foundry/Brocade), applies to any BGP-speaking router or Layer 3 switch
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only textual conventions (data types such as address-family and peer-state enumerations) and contains no tables or counters of its own, so there is no standalone monitoring scenario to describe; it exists solely to support type-consistent polling of the separate BGP4V2 peer and routing tables.
