Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for Packet Optical Performance Monitoring (POPM) of Ethernet service metrics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F3-POPM-MIB?

This ADVA F3 platform MIB implements Precision Optical/Packet Performance Monitoring (POPM) for Ethernet services on FSP150CM/CC devices, providing statistical anomaly detection on service traffic at both access and network-facing ports. It exposes configuration for per-port performance monitors, including operational high/low thresholds, statistical variance, sampling window size, and a glitch-rejection level used to filter transient noise from real anomalies. Its core purpose is performance monitoring and fault detection at the service level rather than physical hardware sensors — f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorState reports whether a given port's traffic pattern is currently within or outside its learned operational range, functioning as an early-warning indicator of service degradation. It works together with the other F3 platform MIBs (F3-PBB, F3-PWE3) covering the same FSP150 device rather than an external IETF performance-monitoring MIB. It is deployed by service providers on ADVA FSP150CM/CC network elements, where F3-POPM-MIB SNMP monitoring continuously validates Ethernet service quality against learned baselines.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-POPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet device

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorTable/Entry and f3EthernetNetPortPOPMonitorTable/Entry to read f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorState per port, and a state change to an alarmed condition combined with f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorVariance exceeding its configured range would flag a service traffic anomaly. Adjusting f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorOperRangeHi/Low and f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorGlitchRejectionLevel tunes sensitivity so brief legitimate bursts don't trigger false alarms, while f3EthernetAccPortPOPMonitorClearAction lets the operator reset an alarmed monitor after investigating.

What Can Be Monitored

  • performance monitor enable state
  • operational range high/low thresholds
  • traffic variance
  • sampling window size
  • glitch rejection level
