Description: Alvarion wireless device QoS MIB for managing WMM priority queues, DSCP mapping, and traffic class policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALVARION-QOS-MIB?

ALVARION-QOS-MIB is a vendor enterprise MIB from Alvarion providing Quality of Service statistics and configuration for wireless equipment, modeling WMM-style priority queues and per-queue traffic counters. It exposes a QoS counters table with per-queue transmitted/received frame counts (including multicast variants), failed transmission counts, retry counts, multiple-retry counts, and frame duplicate counts. Its monitoring purpose is software/traffic-performance health at the queue level: an admin can see whether a given priority queue is experiencing excessive retries, failures, or duplicate frames, which points to RF interference or congestion affecting that traffic class. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB, conceptually aligned with IEEE 802.11e/WMM priority queuing but implemented with Alvarion-specific objects. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless base stations and subscriber units to monitor QoS-differentiated wireless traffic performance. Engineers can download the ALVARION-QOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alvarion wireless base station/subscriber unit

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks coQOSCountersTable/coQOSCountersEntry keyed by coQOSQueueId to compare coQOSTransmittedFrameCount against coQOSFailedCount and coQOSRetryCount per priority queue, and a high ratio of failures/retries on a specific queue would indicate RF congestion affecting that traffic class (e.g., voice vs. best-effort). coQOSFrameDuplicateCount rising sharply can indicate link-layer acknowledgment problems requiring retransmission. coQOSMulticastTransmittedFrameCount and coQOSMulticastReceivedFrameCount let an admin separately track multicast traffic health within each queue.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-queue transmitted/received frame counts
  • per-queue failed transmission count
  • retry and multiple-retry counts
  • frame duplicate count
  • multicast frame counts per queue

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using coQOSTransmittedFrameCount OID:

Select an Alvarion (Cambium) wireless broadband access points/base station (legacy) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type coQOSTransmittedFrameCount into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. This counter increments only when an acknowledged MPDU with an individual address in the address 1 field or MPDU with a multicast address in the address 1 field of type Data or Management. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
