Description: Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch multicast MIB for managing IGMP snooping, multicast routing, and multicast group membership.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EdgeSwitch-MULTICAST-MIB?
The EdgeSwitch-MULTICAST-MIB is part of Ubiquiti's FastPath-based Multicast Routing Flex package for EdgeSwitch devices, covering IGMP snooping, multicast routing, and multicast group membership management. It exposes configuration objects (enabling snooping/routing per VLAN) alongside operational tables of current multicast group memberships and forwarding state. Its monitoring value is largely software/protocol-state: confirming IGMP snooping is active, that group membership tables reflect real receivers, and that multicast traffic is being forwarded only to the correct ports rather than flooded. It layers on the standard IGMP and interface (ifIndex) models used elsewhere in the FastPath stack. It is deployed on Layer 2/3 EdgeSwitches carrying IPTV, video conferencing, or other multicast application traffic in campus or enterprise networks, and administrators managing these switches typically start with an EdgeSwitch-MULTICAST-MIB download to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EdgeSwitch-MULTICAST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch managed switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll a per-VLAN multicast group membership/forwarding table to see which ports are registered receivers for a given multicast address, and use the IGMP snooping enable flag to confirm the feature is active; a port still shown forwarding a multicast stream after its receiver left would reveal a stale IGMP leave/timeout condition causing unnecessary bandwidth use.
What Can Be Monitored
- IGMP snooping enabled state
- multicast group membership table
- per-VLAN multicast forwarding entries
- multicast routing protocol status
