Category: Protocol: OSPF, Routing Protocols, Technology: Routing, Vendor: Extreme Networks
Description: Extreme Networks MIB providing vendor-specific extensions to OSPF management, augmenting standard OSPF MIBs on ExtremeXOS routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EXTREME-OSPF-MIB?
EXTREME-OSPF-MIB provides Extreme Networks-specific extensions to standard OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) routing protocol management, supplementing the objects defined in the standard IETF OSPF-MIB on ExtremeXOS-based routers and switches. It exposes vendor-specific OSPF configuration and operational parameters not covered by the standard MIB, extending visibility into routing protocol behavior. While primarily a routing/configuration MIB rather than a hardware-health MIB, it supports monitoring software status by exposing Extreme-specific OSPF process configuration and state that can reveal routing protocol misconfiguration or instability. It has an explicit, direct dependency on the standard OSPF-MIB (RFC 1850/4750), which it extends rather than replaces. It is deployed on Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS switches and routers running OSPF in enterprise or service-provider routed networks. Engineers can download the EXTREME-OSPF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Extreme Networks switch/router (ExtremeXOS-based)
Monitoring Examples
No specific object or table names were available in the source material, so a concrete polling scenario using this MIB's own OIDs cannot be honestly constructed. In practice this module would be polled alongside the standard OSPF-MIB to retrieve Extreme-specific OSPF process settings, but the specific vendor extension objects could not be confirmed from available data.
