extremeOspfInterfacePassive

Module: EXTREME-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): EXTREME-OSPF-MIB::extremeOspfInterfacePassive

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.15.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the OSPF interface on this Vlan is Passive or not. Passive interfaces do not send routing updates. A true value indicates that the interface is passive.

What is extremeOspfInterfacePassive?

This flag marks whether the OSPF interface on a VLAN is passive, meaning it participates in OSPF's routing calculations for its own subnet but never sends or receives OSPF hello or update packets. An admin enables this on interfaces that should be advertised into OSPF, like a server subnet, but where no OSPF neighbor relationship is expected, avoiding wasted hello traffic and reducing attack surface. Setting this to true on a server-facing VLAN would let that subnet's route be advertised into OSPF while ensuring the switch never tries to form an OSPF adjacency out that interface.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.15.1.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> EXTREME-OSPF-MIB::extremeOspfInterfacePassive

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.15.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> EXTREME-OSPF-MIB::extremeOspfInterfacePassive.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.15.1.1.2.1 s <value>
