Description: Extreme Networks MIB for Identity Manager, tracking user identity and authentication state associated with network ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EXTREME-IDMGR-MIB?

EXTREME-IDMGR-MIB is an Extreme Networks vendor MIB for the Identity Manager feature, which tracks which users or devices are authenticated and connected on which network ports (via 802.1X, MAC-based auth, or captive portal). It exposes identity-to-port bindings, including authentication state, the associated username/device, and the port or VLAN a given identity is bound to. Rather than hardware health, this MIB's monitoring value is in software/access status — confirming which users or devices are currently authenticated and where, and detecting failed authentication attempts or unexpected identity bindings on a port. It works alongside Extreme's port-security and 802.1X-related MIBs/standards for full authentication context. It's typically deployed on ExtremeXOS switches implementing network access control (NAC), where operators need to audit or troubleshoot per-port identity and authentication status. Engineers can download the EXTREME-IDMGR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-IDMGR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS-based switch (network access control deployment)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific table names can't be confirmed; based on its description, an admin would typically poll a per-port identity table to see which authenticated user or device is currently bound to a port, and an unexpected or unauthenticated identity showing up on a sensitive port would signal a possible access-control violation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • authenticated identity per port
  • authentication state
  • port/VLAN binding
  • failed authentication events
