Description: Extreme Networks MIB providing physical and logical entity inventory for ExtremeXOS-based switches, extending RFC 2737 entity concepts.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EXTREME-ENTITY-MIB?
EXTREME-ENTITY-MIB extends the standard IETF Entity MIB (RFC 2737) with Extreme Networks-specific physical and logical entity details for ExtremeXOS-based switches. It exposes an inventory of physical components (chassis, modules, power supplies, fans) and logical entities, layering Extreme-specific attributes on top of the standard entPhysicalTable structure. As a hardware status MIB it is directly relevant to monitoring the physical health and inventory of a switch chassis — confirming the presence and identity of power supplies, fan trays, and line cards, and detecting hardware component failures or removals. It explicitly extends RFC 2737 (ENTITY-MIB), meaning it should be read alongside that standard MIB for complete physical-entity semantics. It's typically deployed on modular ExtremeXOS switch chassis where operators need detailed hardware inventory and component-level health visibility. Engineers can download the EXTREME-ENTITY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-ENTITY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS-based modular switch
Monitoring Examples
No concrete sample objects were provided for this module, so specific table/object names can't be verified; based on its description as an ENTITY-MIB extension, an admin would typically cross-reference entPhysicalTable entries with Extreme-specific attributes here to identify a specific power supply or fan module and detect whether it has failed or been removed from the chassis.
What Can Be Monitored
- physical component inventory
- power supply presence/status
- fan module status
- logical entity mapping
