Description: Manages ATM and Frame Relay permanent virtual circuits including configuration and statistics on Ericsson routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-PVC-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-PVC-MIB is a vendor-specific module for Ericsson's SmartEdge/SM/SSR router family that manages permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) over ATM, Frame Relay, and IEEE 802.1Q links. It exposes configuration and status data for each PVC, including its physical slot/port location, ATM VPI/VCI or encapsulation settings, circuit type, and administrative row status. In terms of hardware/software status monitoring, it lets an operator confirm whether a given PVC is configured and operationally active on a specific slot and port, and provides a mechanism (eriRouterAtmPvcClearCircuit) to reset a stuck or faulted circuit, effectively tracking the operational health of virtual-circuit services on the line cards. It builds on standard interface and ATM/Frame Relay concepts but is Ericsson-proprietary in its object naming and table structure. It is typically deployed in carrier and enterprise WAN edge routers provisioning legacy ATM/Frame Relay PVCs or 802.1Q virtual circuits, and network engineers consulting the ERICSSON-ROUTER-PVC-MIB MIB reference can map each object directly to its corresponding provisioning table.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-PVC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER)
  • Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet platform
  • Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll eriRouterAtmPvcConfigTable/eriRouterAtmPvcConfigEntry, keyed by eriRouterAtmPvcSlot, eriRouterAtmPvcPort, eriRouterAtmPvcVpi, and eriRouterAtmPvcVci, to enumerate every configured ATM PVC and its eriRouterAtmPvcEncapsulation and eriRouterAtmPvcCircuitType. A row whose eriRouterAtmPvcRowStatus is not active, or whose eriRouterAtmPvcCircuitHandle indicates a fault, would flag a PVC that has failed to come up; the eriRouterAtmPvcClearCircuit object gives the admin a way to force-clear that circuit. Notifications under eriRouterPvcMIBNotifications would alert on PVC state transitions in real time.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM/Frame Relay PVC configuration status
  • PVC slot and port location
  • VPI/VCI values
  • PVC encapsulation type
  • circuit row status (active/inactive)
  • circuit clear/reset operations
