What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI defines the top-level OID structure and registration hierarchy for all Ericsson Router MIB modules, serving as Ericsson's enterprise SMI root analogous to CISCO-SMI or HUAWEI-MIB. It contains no instrumented managed objects of its own and exposes no interface, environment, performance, configuration, or fault data directly. It therefore has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its function is solely to provide the OID namespace root under which Ericsson's router-specific hardware and software monitoring MIBs register their objects. Virtually every Ericsson router MIB module depends on the enterprise OID tree this module establishes as a foundational namespace dependency. It is present as an always-loaded structural dependency on Ericsson router platforms that expose Ericsson enterprise SNMP MIBs, and the ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI OID tree it defines is what every dependent Ericsson router MIB registers its objects beneath.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson routers

Monitoring Examples

This is a structural root/definitions module with no runtime objects — sample_objects is empty because ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI only establishes the Ericsson router enterprise OID subtree rather than instrumented data points. An admin would never poll it directly; it exists so that dependent Ericsson router hardware/software monitoring MIBs resolve their object identifiers under a consistent namespace.
