Description: Manages Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation Group configuration and redundancy state across Ericsson router chassis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-MC-LAG-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-MC-LAG-MIB is an Ericsson vendor MIB (renamed from an earlier LAG-MIB) that manages Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation Group configuration and redundancy across pairs of Ericsson SmartEdge/SM/SSR router chassis. It exposes per-MC-LAG objects describing the aggregation group's identity, system priority, system MAC address, revertive failover mode/timer, and current operational state. This MIB is squarely about monitoring the hardware/software redundancy status of a chassis pair: operational state and error codes reveal whether an MC-LAG is actively forwarding correctly, while switchover time and switchover reason objects log when and why a failover between chassis occurred. It builds on standard link aggregation concepts (IEEE 802.3ad/802.1AX LACP) extended by Ericsson to span multiple chassis. It is deployed in high-availability network cores where two Ericsson router chassis are paired for redundant uplinks and must fail over transparently on a chassis or link failure. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-MC-LAG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-MC-LAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge (SE) Multi-service Edge Router
  • Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet platform
  • Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll eriRouterMcLagTable/eriRouterMcLagEntry using eriRouterMcLagName and eriRouterMcLagId to identify a specific aggregation group, then check eriRouterMcLagOperState and eriRouterMcLagOperErrorCode to confirm the group is fully up rather than degraded on one chassis. eriRouterMcLagSwitchOverTime and eriRouterMcLagSwitchOverReason are reviewed after an alert to determine whether a recent failover was caused by a link failure, chassis reboot, or manual switchover, and eriRouterMcLagRevertiveMode/eriRouterMcLagRevertiveHoldTimer are checked to confirm the group will (or won't) revert automatically once the primary chassis recovers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MC-LAG operational state
  • switchover time and reason
  • revertive mode and hold timer
  • system priority and MAC address
  • aggregation error codes
