Description: Monitors software feature license status, expiration, and capacity on Ericsson routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-LICENSE-MGR-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-LICENSE-MGR-MIB is an Ericsson vendor-specific MIB (under the ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI enterprise tree) that defines objects to support management of software feature license servers on Ericsson router platforms. Rather than tabular inventory data, it is built almost entirely around NOTIFICATION-TYPE definitions — eriRouterLicenseMgrAutonomousModeActivatedAlarm, eriRouterLicenseMgrCapacityUsageThresholdReachedAlarm, eriRouterLicenseMgrKeyFileFault, and eriRouterLicenseMgrPortDisabledDueToCapacityExceededAlarm among them — each carrying event objects like eriRouterLicenseMgrEventSeverity, eriRouterLicenseMgrEventDateAndTime, and (in the V2 compliance) the specific card slot/port (eriRouterLicenseMgrEventCardSlot, eriRouterLicenseMgrEventPort). It depends on ERICSSON-ROUTER-TC for slot/port textual conventions and on ITU-ALARM-TC-MIB for severity coding, tying license events into the router's broader alarm framework. Monitoring it is important because expired or missing license keys on Ericsson routers can silently disable ports or force the system into a time-limited autonomous mode, so trapping these notifications catches capacity or licensing problems before they cause an outage. It is deployed on Ericsson router platforms running license-gated features, and operators can get the ERICSSON-ROUTER-LICENSE-MGR-MIB download from Ericsson to load the notification definitions into their trap receiver or MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-LICENSE-MGR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge/router platforms (ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI family)

Monitoring Examples

An operator subscribes to eriRouterLicenseMgrPortDisabledDueToCapacityExceededAlarm and eriRouterLicenseMgrLicenseKeyNotAvailableAlarm traps; receiving the capacity-exceeded alarm with a specific eriRouterLicenseMgrEventCardSlot/Port would indicate a port has just been shut down because installed license capacity was exhausted.

What Can Be Monitored

  • license autonomous-mode activation alarms
  • capacity usage threshold alarms
  • license key file fault/availability alarms
  • port-disabled-due-to-capacity-exceeded events
  • base package license missing/grace-period alarms
