Category: Standard: IETF, Vendor: Ericsson

Description: Specifies the agent capabilities Ericsson routers implement for the IETF SNMP Message Processing and Dispatching MIB (RFC 3412).

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMP-MPD-CAP?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMP-MPD-CAP is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a data-bearing MIB, declaring which parts of the IETF SNMP-MPD-MIB (Message Processing and Dispatching, RFC 3412) are implemented on Ericsson's SEOS-based router platforms, including the SmartEdge (SE), Metro Ethernet Service Transport (SM), and Smart Service Router (SSR) families. As an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement it does not itself expose interfaces, environment sensors, or performance counters; instead it documents implementation conformance for tooling and NMS compatibility checks. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware/software status of the device; it exists purely to declare which SNMP-MPD-MIB objects and groups the SNMP agent supports, and by definition it depends entirely on the IETF SNMP-MPD-MIB (RFC 3412) it describes. It would be used by NMS/agent developers or integrators consulting the ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMP-MPD-CAP reference to verify SNMPv3 message-processing support before deploying management tooling against Ericsson SEOS routers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMP-MPD-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral capability declaration, applies to Ericsson SEOS-based routers (SmartEdge/SM/SSR families)

Monitoring Examples

This module is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement describing implementation conformance to the IETF SNMP-MPD-MIB rather than a runtime data MIB, so it defines no pollable objects or tables and there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it would only be consulted by tooling checking which SNMP-MPD-MIB features an Ericsson SEOS agent supports.
