Description: Manages IP address bindings and assignments to interfaces and contexts on Ericsson routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-IP-BIND-MIB?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-IP-BIND-MIB is an Ericsson vendor MIB that manages the binding of IP interfaces to the underlying physical ports and circuits on Ericsson router platforms, tying its objects back to interface indices defined in the standard IF-MIB. It exposes a table mapping each IP-bound interface to a circuit handle, hierarchical interface index, circuit description, and routing context name. This lets operators monitor the software-level configuration status of IP-to-circuit bindings, revealing whether an IP interface is correctly attached to its intended physical port/circuit and within the correct VRF-like context, which is critical for diagnosing misrouted or unreachable IP services. It explicitly depends on and cross-references the IETF IF-MIB for interface indexing. It is deployed in carrier and enterprise networks running Ericsson SmartEdge/SM/SSR routers to verify IP interface-to-circuit mapping consistency, and engineers can obtain the ERICSSON-ROUTER-IP-BIND-MIB download for direct use in their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-IP-BIND-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson SmartEdge (SE) Multi-service Edge Router
- Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet platform
- Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll eriRouterIpBindTable/eriRouterIpBindEntry to correlate eriRouterIpBindIfIndex and eriRouterIpBindHierarchicalIfIndex with the physical port identified by eriRouterIpBindCircuitHandle and eriRouterIpBindCircuitDescr, confirming a customer-facing IP interface is bound to the expected physical circuit. eriRouterIpBindContextName is checked to ensure the binding sits in the correct routing context (e.g., a specific VRF), since a binding placed in the wrong context would make the interface unreachable from its intended routing domain. A missing or unexpected row in this table for a configured interface signals a binding failure that needs correction.
What Can Be Monitored
- IP interface to circuit binding
- hierarchical interface index mapping
- circuit description
- routing context assignment
