What Is RBN-MASTER-AGENT-MIB?
RBN-MASTER-AGENT-MIB is an Ericsson (Redback) SmartEdge enterprise MIB implementing an AgentX master agent MIB, used to manage the SNMP subagent architecture on the device itself. It exposes objects related to AgentX session lifecycle, notably the reason a subagent's session with the master agent was closed, along with general master-agent status objects. Rather than monitoring device hardware sensors, it supports monitoring of the software/management-plane health of the SNMP agent stack, letting an admin detect subagent crashes, timeouts, or protocol-level disconnects that would otherwise silently degrade MIB coverage. It builds on the IETF AgentX protocol (RFC 2741) architecture rather than a standard MIB module, adapted into Ericsson's enterprise namespace. It is deployed internally on SmartEdge platforms wherever multiple SNMP subagents for different feature MIBs register with a common master agent process. Engineers can download the RBN-MASTER-AGENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBN-MASTER-AGENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator troubleshooting missing or stale SNMP data for a particular feature MIB would check rbnAgentxSessionCloseReason to determine whether the responsible subagent process crashed, was administratively stopped, or lost its AgentX session due to a timeout. rbnMasterAgent scalar objects give an overall status/identity view of the master agent process itself, helping distinguish a master-agent-level fault from a single subagent failure.
