Description: Monitors line card and slot hardware status, insertion/removal events, and operational state on Ericsson router chassis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-CARDMON-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-CARDMON-MIB is an Ericsson vendor MIB that monitors line-card, controller-card, and system-card hardware on Ericsson router chassis, covering card insertion/removal events, operational state, alarms, and per-card statistics. It exposes clear fault-management data: an active-alarm table with slot, alarm ID/type, timestamp, description, probable cause, severity, and service-affecting flag, plus a card statistics table. This is directly a hardware-status monitoring MIB -- eriRouterCardAlarmActiveTable lets an operator see exactly which chassis slot has a card fault, how severe it is, and whether it is impacting live service, functioning like a mini fault-management system for chassis card health. It depends on the router chassis's physical slot/entity model, and its alarm structure parallels concepts in the IETF ENTITY-MIB and standard alarm/notification conventions. It is deployed on Ericsson router chassis (modular carrier-grade routers) in service-provider networks. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-CARDMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-CARDMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson modular router chassis

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll eriRouterCardAlarmActiveTable/eriRouterCardAlarmActiveEntry to see active alarms keyed by eriRouterCardAlarmSlot and eriRouterCardAlarmActiveIndex, checking eriRouterCardAlarmSeverity and eriRouterCardAlarmServiceAffecting to triage which card faults need immediate attention. A new entry with eriRouterCardAlarmType indicating a card-removal or hardware-fault condition and eriRouterCardAlarmServiceAffecting set true would trigger an urgent response, while eriRouterCardStatsTable would be checked for longer-term per-card performance trends.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active card alarms by slot
  • alarm severity and service-affecting status
  • card insertion/removal events
  • per-card statistics
