Description: Eltex MES VLAN MIB for managing 802.1Q VLAN creation, port membership, and VLAN-based forwarding on MES switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-VLAN-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-VLAN-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Eltex for the MES family of Ethernet switches, covering 802.1Q VLAN configuration together with IP multicast (multicast-TV) support. It exposes configuration and state data such as overall VLAN mode, per-port current VLAN egress membership lists, and multicast-TV VLAN tagging settings. Although primarily a configuration MIB, the current VLAN and multicast tables can be polled to monitor the live software-level state of VLAN membership and multicast forwarding on each port, which is useful for spotting misconfigured or unexpected VLAN egress lists. It extends standard IEEE 802.1Q Bridge MIB conventions (dot1qPortVlan-style naming) with Eltex-specific multicast-TV objects. It is typically deployed on Eltex MES access/aggregation switches in ISP and enterprise networks that deliver multicast TV services over VLANs. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin could poll eltdot1qPortVlanCurrentTable/eltdot1qPortVlanCurrentEntry and inspect eltdot1qPortVlanCurrentEgressList1to1024 (and the higher-numbered egress list objects) to confirm which VLANs are actually being forwarded out a given port versus what was configured. Checking eltVlanMulticastTvTable entries and eltVlanMulticastTvVIDIsTagged reveals whether multicast TV traffic is being tagged correctly on a per-VLAN basis, helping diagnose channel dropout complaints. eltVlanMode shows the switch's overall VLAN operating mode.
