Category: Protocol: OSPF, Vendor: Eltex

Description: Eltex MES OSPF interface MIB providing per-interface OSPF configuration extensions specific to the MES platform.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-IF-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-IF-MIB is an Eltex enterprise MIB extending OSPF interface management for the MES series Ethernet switches, adding platform-specific interface configuration beyond the standard OSPF MIB. It exposes per-interface OSPF configuration objects: interface IP address, passive-interface default and list settings, and interface OSPF status. It is used primarily to monitor and verify the software/routing-protocol configuration of OSPF on a per-interface basis -- confirming which interfaces are passive and whether OSPF is administratively enabled on a given interface -- rather than physical hardware health. It clearly depends on and extends the standard OSPF MIB for base OSPF objects, adding only MES-platform-specific interface extensions. It is typically deployed on Eltex MES-series switches/routers running OSPF in enterprise or service-provider LAN/WAN environments. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-IF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES series Ethernet switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

An admin could walk eltIpOspfIfTable/eltIpOspfIfEntry to check eltOspfIfAddress and eltOspfIfStatus for each routed interface, confirming OSPF is enabled where expected. If a branch-office link stops forming OSPF adjacencies, checking eltOspfIfPassiveList or eltOspfIfPassiveDefault would reveal whether the interface was inadvertently set to passive mode, suppressing OSPF hello packets.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF interface IP address
  • passive interface default setting
  • passive interface list
  • OSPF interface status
