Description: Eltex MES OSPF MTU MIB for managing MTU mismatch detection and MTU configuration on OSPF-enabled interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-MTU-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-MTU-MIB is a small, focused vendor-specific MIB from Eltex for detecting and configuring MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) settings on OSPF-enabled interfaces on MES-series switches, addressing the common OSPF adjacency problem caused by MTU mismatches between neighboring routers. It exposes a single table mapping each OSPF interface's IP address to its configured OSPF MTU value and a row-status for managing entries. Its monitoring purpose is purely configuration/software-status: comparing ipOspfMtu across neighboring routers via this table lets an operator catch an MTU mismatch that would otherwise cause OSPF adjacencies to stay stuck in EXSTART/EXCHANGE state and never fully form. It explicitly complements the standard IETF OSPF-MIB by adding a vendor-specific MTU visibility/configuration object not present in the base OSPF MIB. It is deployed on Eltex MES-series switches/routers running OSPF in enterprise or service-provider IP networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-MTU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-IP-OSPF-MTU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES-series switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls eltIpOspfMtuTable/eltIpOspfMtuEntry (keyed by ipAddr) to compare ipOspfMtu on both ends of an OSPF adjacency; if the two values differ, that MTU mismatch is very likely the reason an OSPF neighbor relationship is stuck in EXSTART rather than reaching FULL state, and eltIpOspfMtuRowStatus confirms whether the corrected entry has been properly committed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured OSPF interface MTU value
  • OSPF MTU entry row status
  • per-interface IP address to MTU mapping
