Description: Eltex MES boot password MIB for managing boot-time password protection configuration on MES series switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ELTEX-MES-BOOTPASSWORD?
ELTEX-MES-BOOTPASSWORD is a narrow private MIB for Eltex's MES series switches that manages the boot-time password protection configuration, i.e., the password required to interrupt or access the bootloader before the main operating software loads. It exposes a single configuration object rather than performance counters or traps. Its relevance to device monitoring is security/configuration-status oriented: verifying whether boot-level password protection is set, which is a hardware/firmware security posture check rather than a runtime health metric. It has no apparent dependency on other MIBs, being a standalone Eltex private object. It is used in secure deployments where administrators want to audit or enforce boot password settings across a fleet of MES switches. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-BOOTPASSWORD file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-BOOTPASSWORD. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Eltex MES series switch
Monitoring Examples
The single object eltBootPasswordString holds the configured boot password value or its presence/absence, which a configuration-compliance script could poll across a fleet of MES switches to confirm that boot passwords are set consistently and haven't been cleared. This is a configuration-audit use case rather than a live performance-monitoring one, useful for security hardening checks during scheduled configuration reviews.
What Can Be Monitored
- boot password configuration state
