Category: Domain: Satellite, Vendor: EF Data
Description: MIB for the EF Data EF-6000 satellite modem providing management of modulation, coding, and link parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EF-6000-MIB?
This is EF Data's private MIB for the EF-6000 series satellite modem, a device used to modulate/demodulate and manage satellite IP/data links. No module description or sample objects were provided for this module, so its exact object structure cannot be confirmed from the available data, but based on its product category it would be expected to expose modulation/coding scheme configuration, link status, and interface configuration for the satellite link. Typical EF Data modem MIBs of this kind are used to monitor hardware/link status such as demodulator lock state, receive signal quality, and unit temperature, alongside configuration of modulation and forward-error-correction coding parameters. Such modems commonly also implement standard interface MIBs alongside their own enterprise MIB for the data-plane interface(s) they present. It is deployed on satellite ground-station/VSAT equipment wherever EF-6000 modems terminate satellite links. Engineers can download the EF-6000-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EF-6000-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- McData EF-6000 series device — Enterprise OID 289 resolves to McData Corporation (Fibre Channel/SAN switch vendor, later part of Brocade), not 'EF Data' satellite modems as previously guessed from the filename — consistent with ED-1032-MIB, another McData module sharing this enterprise OID.
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, so a concrete monitoring scenario cannot be honestly constructed from real object names; based on the product type, an operator would typically be expected to poll demodulator lock status and receive signal quality objects to detect a satellite link outage, but the specific object names cannot be confirmed without the actual MIB source.
