Category: Domain: Storage, Fibre Channel and Storage

Description: MIB for the ED-1032 Fibre Channel switch providing fabric management, port status, and zoning configuration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ED-1032-MIB?

ED-1032-MIB is a vendor-private MIB for the McData ED-1032 Fibre Channel fabric switch, registered under mcData.commDev.fibreChannel.fcSwitch.ed-1032. It organizes management data into an ed1032Sys branch exposing chassis-level objects such as ed1032SysFirmwareVersion, ed1032SysBootDate, ed1032SysOperStatus, and ed1032SysAdmStatus; an ed1032FruTable, indexed by ed1032FruCode and ed1032FruPosition, that reports per-module ed1032FruStatus (active/backup/update-busy/failed), ed1032FruPartNumber/SerialNumber, and ed1032FruPowerOnHours for field-replaceable units like backplane, control processor, fan, and power modules; and an ed1032PortTable, indexed by ed1032PortIndex, that exposes per-port physical and operational status for the switch's Fibre Channel ports. Because it directly models hardware inventory and per-port link state, it is well suited to detecting failed or backup-active FRUs and Fibre Channel ports that have gone offline in a SAN fabric. It has no dependency beyond basic SNMPv1 SMI conventions (enterprises, OBJECT-TYPE) and is deployed on ED-1032 switches acting as Fibre Channel fabric switches in SAN environments; storage administrators can download the ED-1032-MIB file to monitor fabric and hardware health on these switches.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ED-1032-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • McData ED-1032 Fibre Channel fabric switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls ed1032FruTable to confirm every module reports ed1032FruStatus as active(1) and checks ed1032PortTable for ports whose operational status has dropped; an FRU showing failed(4) or a Fibre Channel port whose physical state indicates loss of signal would indicate a hardware or cabling fault threatening SAN fabric redundancy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system operational/administrative status
  • FRU (field-replaceable unit) status per module
  • FRU power-on hours
  • Fibre Channel port physical state
  • Fibre Channel port operational status
  • firmware version and boot date
