Description: Manages upstream power control (UPC) parameters for DSL subscriber line optimization on DSLAMs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DSLAM-UPC-MIB?
DSLAM-UPC-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment covering Upstream Power Control (UPC), a DSL feature that adjusts subscriber-line transmit power to optimize signal quality and reduce crosstalk. It exposes UPC configuration parameters per DSL line, such as power control mode and target power/attenuation settings. As a line-configuration/performance MIB it lets an administrator monitor whether UPC is enabled on a given subscriber line and verify the resulting power settings, relating to DSL line performance/quality rather than chassis hardware health. It is likely deployed alongside standard ADSL/VDSL line MIBs (such as the IETF ADSL-LINE-MIB or vendor-specific DSL MIBs) that provide the broader line status and performance counters this UPC module complements. It is typically deployed on DSLAMs in telecom central offices or cabinets, where operators tune upstream power settings to improve DSL line stability and reduce interference between adjacent lines. Engineers can download the DSLAM-UPC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DSLAM-UPC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module. An administrator would typically poll per-line UPC mode and target-power objects to confirm upstream power control is correctly configured, and would cross-reference this with the line's actual attained upstream rate/margin from the standard DSL line MIB to diagnose crosstalk or power-related performance issues, though specific object names cannot be cited here.
What Can Be Monitored
- upstream power control mode per line
- target power/attenuation setting
- DSL line power configuration status
