Description: Huawei DSLAM PITP (PPPoE Intermediate Agent Tag Protocol) MIB for managing PPPoE access circuit tagging and subscriber identification on DSLAMs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-DSLAM-PITP-MIB?

HUAWEI-DSLAM-PITP-MIB is a Huawei private MIB implementing the Policy Information Transfer Protocol (PITP), part of Huawei's Group Management Protocol (HGMP) family, used on DSLAM access nodes to relay subscriber port/circuit information to a Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS). It exposes objects that bind user accounts to specific access ports, primarily to prevent account theft and unauthorized roaming of subscriber credentials across ports. As a broadband-access policy MIB, its monitoring value is in confirming which physical access port a given subscriber circuit is currently bound to and detecting mismatches that indicate fraudulent access. It depends on the DSLAM's underlying port/interface identification and works alongside PPPoE Intermediate Agent tagging, since PITP information is carried inline with subscriber PPPoE/DHCP sessions. It is deployed on Huawei DSLAM broadband access nodes in fixed-line (xDSL) access networks. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-DSLAM-PITP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-DSLAM-PITP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM broadband access nodes

Monitoring Examples

A network operator would poll the PITP port-binding table to confirm a subscriber's account identifier is bound to the correct physical DSLAM port, then compare it against the BRAS's session records. If a subscriber's traffic arrives tagged with a port binding inconsistent with their provisioned line, that signals possible port hijacking or misconfigured wiring. This MIB is primarily a fraud-prevention and access-policy verification tool rather than a hardware-health monitor.

What Can Be Monitored

  • subscriber account-to-port binding
  • PITP tag/policy configuration
  • port identification information sent to BRAS
