Description: Manages digital switching device optional feature configuration and capability reporting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DSD-OPT-MIB?

DSD-OPT-MIB is a legacy vendor-specific MIB from Codex Corporation, registered under the codex enterprise OID and part of the cdx6500 product-specific tree, that models Internal Dial Sub-channel Devices (DSD) on Codex 6500-series multiplexer/access equipment. The cdx6500GCTDSDTable configures each DSD's main channel — its sub-address (cdx6500dsdMainChanAddr), call-control mode (cdx6500dsdCallControl, e.g. callOptAuto for autocall), autocall mnemonic/timeout/retry settings, and the number and addressing of its sub-channels — while cdx6500dsdMainChanStatTable and cdx6500dsdSubChanStatTable report live operational state: channel type (svc/pvc), connection state (dsdCalling/dsdConnected), remote address, and character/packet in/out counters for both the main and sub channels. Control objects cdx6500dsdBoot and cdx6500dsdResetStats let an operator reboot a DSD module or clear its statistics via SNMP SET. Monitoring this MIB reveals whether a DSD's dial-up main or sub-channels are connected and passing traffic, useful for diagnosing failed auto-dial attempts or channels stuck in a calling state. It is deployed exclusively on Codex 6500 statistical multiplexer chassis using internal DSD cards for dial-backup or auxiliary connectivity, and engineers referencing the DSD-OPT-MIB MIB would use it to configure autocall behavior and poll per-channel connection status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DSD-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codex 6500-series statistical multiplexer / dial sub-channel device (DSD) cards

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cdx6500dsdMainChanState for a given cdx6500dsdStatMainChanNum to confirm the main channel reached dsdConnected rather than remaining stuck in dsdCalling, and tracks cdx6500dsdMainChanPktIn/PktOut for traffic flow; a channel stuck in dsdCalling with zero packet counters would indicate a failed autocall dial attempt.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DSD main/sub-channel configuration (call control, autocall settings)
  • main and sub-channel connection state (calling/connected)
  • channel type (SVC/PVC)
  • remote address per channel
  • character and packet in/out counters per channel
  • DSD boot and statistics-reset control objects
