Category: Domain: Optical Transport, Network Interfaces, Technology: Optical Transport

Description: MIB for E1 optical interface management providing monitoring and configuration of E1 line parameters over optical transport.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is E1-OPT-MIB?

E1-OPT-MIB is a Codex Corporation enterprise MIB (codex OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { enterprises 449 }, part of the cdx6500 product branch) for the Codex 6500-series multiplexer's channelized E1/T1 telco interfaces; despite its name, the module's actual content is telco E1/ISDN line configuration and performance monitoring rather than optical-transport management, so administrators expecting optical-layer objects should note this discrepancy. The configuration table (cdx6500PPCTE1PortTable) covers ISDN/channelized framing format, line framing type, line coding (HDB3/AMI), impedance, transmit-clock source, ISDN switch type/variant and user/network side, plus per-metric alarm thresholds (LES, LCV, PCV, CSS, ES, BES, SES, SEFS, UAS, DM). Statistics tables report port state and alarm state (cdx6500PPSTE1PortTable), rolling 15-minute/daily/24-hour performance history for the same error metrics, per-DS0-channel ABCD signaling state, and detailed ISDN call statistics/summary (call counts, rejection causes, call duration min/max/avg, B-channel status and direction). This gives an operator both the line-layer configuration and the historical/real-time error and call performance needed to diagnose degraded or failed E1/ISDN spans. It is deployed on Codex 6500-series T1/E1 access multiplexers, and administrators can download the E1-OPT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in E1-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codex 6500-series T1/E1 access multiplexers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cdx6500PPSTE1PortTable's cdx6500E1StatAlarmState for a port and, if it shows los(4) or lof(6), cross-references cdx6500E1StatCurrent15MinutesReportTable's SES/UAS gauges and cdx6500E1StatISDNStatusTable's cdx6500E1StatDchannelState; a down D-channel combined with rising unavailable-seconds counts would indicate a failed or misconfigured E1 span rather than a transient line hit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • E1/ISDN line framing, coding, and clock configuration
  • per-metric alarm thresholds (LES/LCV/PCV/CSS/ES/BES/SES/SEFS/UAS/DM)
  • 15-minute/daily/24-hour performance history counters
  • port and D-channel alarm/operational state
  • ISDN call statistics and call-summary table
