Description: Manages DPS Telecom CG series network alarm and remote telemetry unit configuration and monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DPS-MIB-CG-V1?

DPS-MIB-CG-V1 is a DPS Telecom private enterprise MIB module supporting the Cellguard Battery String Monitor (BSM), a remote telemetry unit used in telecom and utility site alarm monitoring. It exposes data organized around battery strings and channels, including per-string electrical readings, dual temperature probes, and per-channel status/enable flags, alongside a trap for alarm notification. The MIB is squarely aimed at monitoring the hardware health of DC battery plants: string voltage, current, internal resistance/conductance, estimated remaining life, and two independent temperature points (TempA/TempB) that reveal thermal runaway or overheating risk before a battery string fails. As a DPS Telecom product line MIB it is typically layered on top of the vendor's broader NetGuardian/T/Mon alarm-monitoring framework rather than standard IETF MIBs. It is deployed at remote unattended sites (cell towers, central offices, cabinets) where battery backup health must be tracked without a site visit. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the DPS-MIB-CG-V1 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DPS-MIB-CG-V1. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DPS Telecom Cellguard battery string monitor
  • remote telemetry/alarm unit for DC power plants

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk the cgStringChannels count and poll cgStringEntry rows indexed by cgStrNumber, reading cgStrVoltage, cgStrCurrent, cgStrTempA, cgStrTempB, cgStrConductance, and cgStrLife for each battery string. A falling cgStrConductance or cgStrLife trend combined with a rising cgStrTempA/cgStrTempB delta flags a string heading toward failure well before an outage. cgStrStatus and cgStrEnabled indicate whether a string is currently in alarm or administratively disabled, and the cellguardTrap notification pushes these alarm transitions to a manager in real time.

What Can Be Monitored

  • battery string voltage
  • battery string current
  • battery temperature (dual probes)
  • battery conductance/internal resistance
  • estimated battery life
  • string enable/alarm status
