Description: DiffServ policy management MIB providing objects to define, apply, and monitor QoS differentiated services policies.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DIFFSERV-POLICY-MIB?
DIFFSERV-POLICY-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB that provides objects for defining, applying, and monitoring Differentiated Services (DiffServ) QoS policies on network devices. It allows policies to be built from reusable templates that are instantiated into DiffServ datapath configurations and then associated with a specific interface and traffic direction. For monitoring purposes it lets an administrator confirm which QoS policy templates are active on which interfaces and directions, reflecting the state of the device's traffic-classification and queuing software rather than physical hardware health. It is explicitly layered on top of the base DIFFSERV-MIB (the datapath/classifier/queue framework) as a policy-management extension, so it depends on that companion MIB for full context. It is typically deployed on routers and Layer 3 switches in service-provider or enterprise networks that need centralized, template-based QoS policy configuration and verification. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the DIFFSERV-POLICY-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIFFSERV-POLICY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- routers and Layer 3 switches implementing DiffServ QoS
Monitoring Examples
No specific object or table names were provided in sample_objects for this module, so a concrete instance-level polling example cannot be grounded in real names. Based on the module description, an administrator would generally expect to poll policy-template and interface-association tables to confirm which DiffServ policy is applied to a given interface and direction, and to detect a misapplied or missing policy. Because sample_objects is empty, the specific scalar and table names available in this MIB are not confirmed here.
