Category: Device Management

Description: Manages server role configuration and service parameters for network device management servers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DEVSERVER-MIB?

DEVSERVER-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB defining server-role configuration for the BSU/SU (Base Station Unit / Subscriber Unit) wireless broadband product family, covering which external servers the device relies on for provisioning and operations. It exposes configuration objects for TFTP, DHCP, time (NTP-like), syslog, and SMTP server addresses, plus DHCP lease expiration tracking. Its monitoring relevance is largely configuration-status: confirming aniDevDhcpLeaseExpiration to anticipate IP address renewal, and verifying that syslog and time server addresses are correctly set so that other software-status signals (like logs and timestamps) remain trustworthy across the fleet. It has no explicit dependency on other standard MIBs based on the available description, functioning as a vendor-specific configuration store rather than an implementation of a standard provisioning MIB. It is typically deployed on BSU/SU wireless units that rely on centralized TFTP-based firmware/config provisioning and centralized logging/time infrastructure, and administrators can consult the DEVSERVER-MIB guide when configuring these provisioning servers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DEVSERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • fixed wireless Base Station Unit (BSU)
  • fixed wireless Subscriber Unit (SU)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check aniDevDhcpServer and aniDevSuDhcpServer to confirm which DHCP server a base station or subscriber unit is bound to, and monitor aniDevDhcpLeaseExpiration to anticipate when a lease renewal is due and flag units at risk of losing their address. aniDevTftpServer identifies the server units will contact for firmware or configuration downloads, so an incorrect value here would explain a failed firmware push. aniDevSyslogServer and aniDevTimeServer configuration would be verified to ensure a unit's logs are being centrally captured with accurate timestamps for troubleshooting.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured DHCP server
  • DHCP lease expiration
  • configured TFTP server
  • configured time server
  • configured syslog server
  • configured SMTP server
